Coot’s Bar & Grill

Coot’s Bar & Grill is part of the pier and pavilion at Edisto Beach, at 102 Palmetto Blvd, the beachfront road in the town of Edisto Beach at the south end of Edisto Island. Burgers, seafood both fried and grilled, and cold drinks are served just steps off the sand.

What to Order

Most of the food comes in baskets. Choices include shrimp or flounder, fried or grilled; peel-and-eat shrimp; fried oysters; and fish tacos. From the grill there are a grilled chicken BLT wrap, hamburger steak, and cheeseburgers with crinkle-cut fries, along with cheese fries. The full bar handles cocktails and cold beer.

Inside or Out

The indoor bar is dim and noisy in a fun way, but the deck tables are the prize, above all near sunset. Summer weekends bring a crowd, and the bar keeps late hours. No other spot on Edisto gets you nearer to the water, and the sunset view from the deck is a big part of the appeal.

• Hours as of October 2026. The kitchen may close earlier than the bar, and hours change with the season, so call ahead to confirm.
