Basic Information

Trick or Treat at the Creek is the Town of Edisto Beach’s free Halloween evening for kids at Bay Creek Park. The 17th annual event is Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., a few days ahead of Halloween itself.

At a Glance

  • When: Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, 5:30–7 p.m.
  • Where: Bay Creek Park, 3706 Docksite Road, Edisto Island
  • Cost: Free
  • Organizer: Town of Edisto Beach
  • Good for: Young children, families on a fall visit, grandparents with little ones in tow

An Early, Easy Halloween

The event is built for families who want trick-or-treating without a long walk through dark streets. Kids collect candy and play games around the park, and the whole thing wraps up by 7 p.m., so it works for bedtimes. Holding it on a Tuesday also makes it a nice surprise for families on a fall vacation week who won’t be on the island for October 31.

Help Hand Out Candy

This is a community-powered night. Residents and visitors are invited to bring bagged, individually wrapped candy to hand out. The event contact at the Town is Phyllis McElveen; you can reach Town Hall at 843-869-2505.

Edisto’s Halloween Week

2026 packs several family events into the same week:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 27, noon–12:45 p.m.: “’Gators of the Lowcountry,” a ranger program at Edisto Beach State Park (pre-registration required at 843-869-4430). It pairs well with an evening at the creek. See our ranger programs listing.
  • Saturday, Oct. 31, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.: the Edisto Beach Fall Festival on Jungle Road, with a pumpkin carving contest, cake walk, and live music.
  • Saturday, Oct. 31: “Trick or Treating at the Beach” also appears on the Chamber calendar; details hadn’t been posted when we checked.

Plan Your Visit

  • Getting there: Bay Creek Park is on Docksite Road beside The Marina at Edisto Beach. From up-island, drive down SC-174 into the beach town; give yourself extra time if you’re coming from the far end of the island.
  • Golf carts: Carts may only run in daylight, until 30 minutes after sunset. Driving a regular car, or walking from nearby rentals, is safer for the trip home.
  • Bring: A treat bag, a flashlight for the walk back to the car, and a light jacket for the breeze off the creek.
  • Before or after: Grab an early dinner from our restaurant guide, and find daytime ideas in things to do with kids.
  • Rain: If the weather looks rough, check Edisto weather and the Town’s calendar for changes.
